Hey you! Let's go on an adventure!

Travis, Tia, and Simon Meidell

Chicago Sun

We have been enjoying Chicago’s great weather. Last weekend Montrose Harbor had a free kite flying festivities. We took Simon  and walked around. Again, Simon is still too young to fully appreciate the kites but it was a fun family activity.

We have also had a few days in the park which is a lot of fun. Simon likes the swings.

Books, books, books

Trav and I both like to read. Simon loves books as well. Right now he likes to play with them and throw them on the floor because it makes a loud noise. Simon does have a favorite book, My First Batman Book.

Things to look for in this video:

1. Simon wiggling because he’s so excited about the book

2. As Trav reads the last page, watch how happy Simon gets when he sees his reflection.

(Sorry about the shaky camera, still getting used to filming.)

Kitchen Toys

When raising a child, no need to invest in store bought toys. Measuring cups, water bottles and cooking spoons are all you need. See the happy little Simon faces below! Although we do need to find an invention that will help get the toys back to him after he throws them around.

You may think that it is a little over-kill with all the similar pictures but you have to get the range of faces this little man is capable of, so I just post them all.

Army Crawling into Month 7

Well here it is. As of this morning we have a little army crawler on our hands. We put something that we knew he really wanted, the green water bottle, in front of him, just out of his reach and off he went! Slow at first but I think this new found mobility will improve quickly!

I can’t believe Simon is 7 months old! It’s gone by so fast and we’ve already had so much fun!

Enjoy the video…more posts with pictures are to come.

Mother’s Day

Had a great first Mother’s Day! It was a whole Mother’s Day weekend including, breakfast, sleeping in, a food processor and accessories to make baby food. Thanks to a wonderful Dad and husband!

I LOVE THIS NEXT PICTURE! He is the cutest little man EVER!

Lots to Cover

I have so much to cover so I took the easy way out and just posted pictures and I will now make a list of the events that you will see in the pictures.

  • Visit to Utah, Idaho and Montana
  • Easter in Utah
  • Visiting the Great Grandparents
  • Simon getting some kisses from his friend Cora
  • Chicago Lincoln Park Zoo
  • At the park with Dad
  • Chillin at home

Stylish 5th Month

We started off Simon’s 5th month of life wearing his cute little tux outfit to church. He looked so handsome! The little shoes that went with it look really funny by themselves but they are incredibly cute on, and are my new favorites.

This looks like a Spidy pose, put a Spiderman costume on this little man and he’ll go up the side of a building.

This is also his way of turning in a circle on the floor.

We’ve been practicing sitting up and he can sit up by himself for about 5 seconds. What a champ.

Simon’s faces make me smile, hope they make you smile as well.

We also tried on our spring outfit and he looked so handsome.

Uncle Chase in Chicago

We were excited to have Uncle Chase come and visit. It was a fun-filled few days.

First we made a trip to Lou Malnati’s…still the best pizza. Simon even enjoyed himself, he liked playing with the plastic cup that he got.

The following day, we took a bus down Lakeshore Drive and hit the Magnificent Mile to do a little shopping. Then caught another bus to Navy Pier where we got some Garretts Popcorn (Chicago mix-cheese and caramel).

Then we bused back to the Magnificent Mile where we ate a Chicago dog for lunch at Downtown Dogs and went into the Hershey store to see the 5 pound Reeses. All around a great day and Simon was a champ.

The following day we headed down town to meet Trav after work and went to Millennium Park and to see The Bean (Cloud Gate) and the water fountains with the faces. They weren’t turned on yet but still fun to see.

Finally Chase and Simon spent the last day chatting with each other. Uncle Chase bought Simon this cute summer outfit, so handsome!

St. Patricks Day in Chicago

Happy St Patty’s Day!

We had a fun birthday party on St Patty’s day. Simon made some new friends and got to visit with old friends.

Belle, the birthday girl saying hi to Simon.

The theme of the birthday was Belle’s Fancy Pants Birthday. No one was more fancy then Cora with her fancy hat, beads and sunglasses.

THEN…we met Uncle Chase and went to see the green river. HOW MUCH FUN IS THIS! We enjoyed seeing hundreds of people out and about for St Patricks day. I think we heard that most of Chicago starts drinking early in the morning and that we should not be down town after 4 because of all the “fun” activities.

A couple of pictures of the people that were out by noon (many starting much earlier) celebrating.

Lines of people waiting to get into the restaurants and bars.

Definitely a great day!

Enjoying the Sun

We have been enjoying the beautiful sun this week and loving the fact we live close to the water. It’s beautiful.

Cora and Simon on our walks!

Trav and I taking Simon for an evening stroll.

A view of the city from our walk.
